Former PGA Tour Pro Jay Williamson, a St. Louis native, joined The Hollywood Casino Press Box on Wednesday to preview the U.S. Open, which starts Thursday at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. Read a couple excerpts and listen to the full interview below: On the difficulty of Oakmont: “I think it’s going to be a really difficult test of golf. They’re trying to bring back the element of precision off the tee. It’s going to play firm because they haven’t had a lot of rain. But for too long now golf has been played (where guys just hit it as hard as they can). They’re going to bring back…where there’s a premium and a reward for getting the ball in the fairway off the tee. I think this will bring that element back.” “This is not a long golf course. But if you ask people who have played this course, a lot of people will say it’s their favorite golf experience. They’ll also say if it’s not the toughest, it’s one of the toughest they’ve ever played.” “It’s going to be a real interesting challenge and it’ll be really interesting to (see how the USGA sets up the course).”
